We had an amazing time in UK - successfully recruited new staff for our lovely school and met up with some old friends - and I hasten to add made few new ones. We finally met up with John from our sister school in Shanghai and we met an interesting bunch from schools all over the world at the Recruitment Fair - Romania and Madrid being the most different. UAE was a favourite; there were lots from there and we also met the Academic Head and Dr Yun from Shenzen in the very south of China. They work in a very different school to ours and it was interesting to hear that they have the same issues!
Dave and I had a great time visiting old haunts in Wiltshire and as we were based in Hammersmith over London Marathon weekend we were able to see Ryan after his gruelling run. He looked in far better shape than he should have done and has signed up for another go next year - is he mad?
We were interested to note that England is so very expensive. Petrol, food and other essentials seem to have sky rocketed just in the short time we have been away. The snow on the Sunday in Swindon was a shock - it was April after all!
It's good to be back in China where the weather had warmed up (it is now blowing a gale and raining!). Our next trip is planned starts tomorrow at 4 am when we fly to Guilin to see a most beautiful part of China and take a trip down the River Li. This is a trip I have been wanting to do for years and although rain is forecast for pretty much the whole day on Sunday, I think it will be worth the trip. Note to self - take brollies!
